I’m
never sure how these conversations happen in the workplace, but we got talking about breasts....
The first time, about a year ago, Ashley took her mom and daughter to the mall. They were having great time until each of them were getting a little crabby. Ashley knew it was time to stop when her mom complained about the high cost of the bra Ashley bought for daughter. "Her breasts aren't worth that," she commented.
Recently, Ashley's mom took her shopping in celebration of Ashley's fortieth birthday. Ashley loved the day to herself with her mom, till her mother began a campaign for her
to get her first mammogram. Cajoling and reassuring, her mother said,
“Don’t worry, sweetheart, it doesn’t take long for them to run that truck over your
breast.” When I talked to her the other day, she admitted, that comment really hadn't motivated her.
